AGWEB Celebrates Women’s Day 2021 – Honors 10 Nurses For their Services During COVID-19

Association of Grassroots Women Entrepreneurs Bangladesh (AGWEB) have honored 10 frontline nurses for their efforts to combat Covid-19 in the country.

The organisation made the announcement via a press release issued in this regard on Thursday.

The nurses who received the honor from the organisation are: Nazneen Khanam, Superintendent of Nursing, Mugda Medical College Hospital, Dhaka; Tereza Barai, Superintendent of Nursing, 500-bed General Hospital, Kurmitola, Dhaka; Cameron Nahar, Senior Staff Nurse, Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Dhaka; Rehena Parveen, Senior Staff Nurse, Mugda Medical College Hospital, Dhaka; Meenakshi Rani Das, Senior Staff Nurse, Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Dhaka; Runu Bernica Costa, Senior Staff Nurse, 500-bed General Hospital, Kurmitola, Dhaka; Afroza Sultana, Senior Staff Nurse, Khaliajuri Upazila Health Complex, Netrokona; Mitali Rani Karmakar, Senior Staff Nurse, National Heart Institute and Hospital, Dhaka; Jabeda Bhuiyan, Senior Staff Nurse, 250 Bed Chest Disease Hospital, Shyamoli, Dhaka; and Dola Akter, Midwife, Dohar Upazila Health Complex, Dhaka.

Minister of Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque was present as the chief guest while Md Ali Noor, Secretary, Department of Health Education and Family Welfare, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, was present as a special guest on the occasion.

Abdul Mannan, Secretary, Department of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare; Siddique Akhter, Director General, Department of Nursing and Midwifery; Ali Sabet, Team Leader, EU Funded Prism Project – Technical Assistance Component; and Mausumi Islam, President, AGWEB were also present during the occasion.

Speaking as the chief guest, Dr Zahid Maleque said, “The government is working to develop the healthcare sector. The work done by the frontline fighters to get us out of the situation we had during the pandemic is outstanding. The nurses took care of the patients with a smile on their faces and helped them get back to their families. The honor bestowed on the nurses by the AGWEB today made their work recognized by all.”
